Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen prepare for IPL clash

Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff were due to come face to face in the Indian Premier League today after England's star players experienced contrasting fortunes over the weekend.

While Pietersen led his Bangalore Royal Challengers side to a 75-run win over Shane Warne's Rajasthan Royals, Flintoff was clubbed for 44 runs from his four overs as Chennai Super Kings lost by 19 runs against Mumbai Indians.

Flintoff will be desperate to put one over on Pietersen in Port Elizabeth today after his poor start to the tournament. Pietersen scored 32 off 30 balls in his team's total of 155 for eight on Saturday.

With the First Test against West Indies only 16 days away, Flintoff was seen with an ice pack on his foot during Chennai's innings, which is bound to have worried England skipper Andrew Strauss and team director Andy Flower.

But Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni insisted: "I don't think he is injured. As far as our starting XI against Bangalore is concerned, we will have a look and re-assess things then."

Meanwhile, West Indies coach John Dyson has challenged his players to show the same pride and consistency evident in the recent Test series triumph over England when the sides clash again next month.
