Anderton warns he could follow Sol

Tottenham's Darren Anderton has criticised his club's decision to allow Sol Campbell to leave and hinted he could follow the defender out.

Anderton, who like Campbell comes out of contract on July 1, said: 'I'm bitterly disappointed by Sol's decision to leave Tottenham.

He is one of the top defenders in the world and the club are just letting him walk away.

'The club have not done enough to keep him. It makes me question my future.' Campbell is almost certain to stay in the Premiership after Real Madrid dropped out of the race to capture the England central defender.

Liverpool, ready to make an official approach in the next week, remain favourites to land Campbell but will have to fight off interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. Campbell rejected Spurs' £80,000-a-week contract offer to stay at White Hart Lane and is bitterly upset at Spurs executive vice-chairman David Buchler's comments labelling his demands as 'ridiculous' and 'obscene'.

But hopes of a move to Madrid were dashed when Real general manager Jorge Valdano rejected the chance to bring Campbell to the Bernabeu. Valdano and coach Vicente del Bosque were not convinced Campbell would be able to adjust to Spanish football.
