Khan was warned for wrestling his opponent to the floor and Dorrian had points deducted for going in with his head low. Khan, lacking discipline, then left himself open to a straight right on the nose that caused blood to flow in the first round. Then, intent on protecting a clear points lead in the last round, Khan received another warning for dancing around the ring out of reach of Dorrian. The verdict of 23-4 in Khan's favour was generous and he conceded: "I will learn from my mistakes."
