Allen fear over leaky defence

Martin Allen does not believe Brentford will have any trouble scoring goals this season, but is worried by his side's defence.

Brentford clung on to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Doncaster Rovers at Griffin Park last night despite having defender Matt Somner sent off late in the match.

Allen said: "We have now conceded six goals in two games. Individual errors have proved costly and these have to be eradicated. We are talented and can score goals, but we cannot keep conceding at the same rate."

Brentford were twice behind but home debut goals from Isaiah Rankin, Chris Hargreaves and Deon Burton - plus a strike from Jay Tabb - put them 4-2 ahead midway through the second half.

Rovers came back into the game late on through a curling shot by Paul Green, but Brentford held out for their first points of the season.

Allen added: "We showed great courage, commitment and self-belief to come back. There is more to come from this team."
