Allen: Burton owes us big time

Martin Allen has identified tonight's home clash with Luton as payback time for Brentford striker Deon Burton.

The Jamaica international was sent off for an unnecessary bust-up with Bradford's Zema Abbey two weeks ago and Brentford have struggled for goals during his subsequent three-match ban.

Allen, who fined Burton over the incident, said: "I strongly believe he owes this football club big time after his sending off. We have missed him during a very important spell.

"I don't want an apology, I want him to make up for it with goals. This is the sort of game in which he has got to come back and show why we brought him here.

"He has been playing well for us this season, but has only got four goals. Now he is fresh and hungry, he has got to deliver inside the penalty area."

Brentford only drew with non-League Hinckley United in the FA Cup on Sunday and Allen realises his side must show significant improvement against the League One leaders at Griffin Park tonight.

He added: "The XI who are picked will need to raise their game and play with the same pride, passion and quality we saw against Bristol City in the last round of the Cup."

Should Brentford beat Hinckley in next week's replay, they will meet Luton again in the third round.

Allen has no fresh injury concerns, with on-loan Millwall striker Ben May expected to make way for Burton. Luton are expected to include former Brentford striker Rowan Vine in their line-up.
