AJ heading for Fulham but Bullard could leave

Andrew Johnson is on the verge of joining Fulham but Jimmy Bullard's future at the club is in doubt.

Fulham chiefs are confident they have tied up a £10.5million deal for the Everton forward which will see him sign a four-year contract.

Bullard, however, could be on his way back to Wigan, despite wanting to stay, with Steve Bruce keen on a £5m move for the winger.

Bullard is set for talks with manager Roy Hodgson after the friendly with Busan I'Park in South Korea today.

Johnson's arrival would see him become the club's second-highest expensive player behind Steve Marlet, who joined for £11.5m in 2001.

Former Crystal Palace star Johnson is keen to return to London, while Hodgson is desperate for a high-profile recruit to boost his attack ahead of the new season.

The England star missed Everton's win at Preston last night and Fulham hope to seal the deal in time for him to join up with his new team-mates when they return from their pre-season tour of Korea next week.

If the transfer goes through, Johnson would link up with another summer arrival - former West Ham striker Bobby Zamora - at Craven Cottage this season.

Bullard is keen to remain with Fulham but with Wigan willing to pay in the region of £5m for him, Hodgson will now consider the options.

Bullard signed for Fulham two years ago for £2.5m and has made just 20 starts due to a serious knee injury.

His return to fitness, however, played a crucial role in Fulham's improbable escape from relegation last season.
