Ahmet Patterson withdraws from British title showdown against Liam Williams

Ahmet Patterson has withdrawn from his British super-welterweight title fight against Liam Williams through injury.

Leyton-born Patterson, who is unbeaten in 17 fights, was due to take on champion Williams on Saturday night.

But Williams will now face Hungary's Gabor Gorbics at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena with the vacant WBO European super-welterweight title on the line.

Patterson's promoted Frank Warren told BBC Sport the postponement was "a great shame."

Patterson has cited being attacked with a brick as the reason for his withdrawal but the attack was not reported to police.
