Adams joined Wycombe on 5 November last year, having taken a break from football to study sports science at Brunel University following his retirement from playing in August 2002.
He said at the time: "It's a great challenge. I have really missed the game.
"University has been really interesting but it's nothing like getting your hands dirty and getting some experience.
"I'm really excited and can't wait to get going. It was something I was going to do one day, somewhere. It just happens to be the right time for me at the moment."
Despite his optimism, Wycombe were relegated to League Two after finishing bottom of the table and they have struggled again this season.
Wycombe are now 17th in the table and have not won in the league since they beat Southend 2-1 two months ago.
