You can turn back time, Cher

In one of her biggest hits, Cher sang wistfully about what would happen If I Could Turn Back Time. A month away from her 60th birthday, she seems to have succeeded.

Sitting in the front row at a fashion show in California, she looked younger than ever - with 'bee-stung' lips which she never had in her early days.

And if her appearance owes much to the surgeon's knife, she is unapologetic.

The veteran singer, who has just completed her world 'Retirement Tour', has made no secret of her willingness to enhance the assets that nature provided.
No wonder she describes herself as a 'plastic surgery poster girl'.

Cher was already well into her fifties when her career won its biggest boost with the 1998 success of the song Believe.

She admits having spent a 'small fortune' on having a facelift, as well as procedures to improve her teeth and breasts.

There has also been speculation about other treatments, including chemical face peels, eye tucks and work on her cheekbones.

Cosmetic expert Mary Burney, of Transform Medical Group, said: 'She's spending a lot of time and money on her appearance, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was up to £10,000 a year. She's had her nose done and work on her teeth and maybe face peels and cheek implants, as well. Nobody of that age looks that good.'

Recently Cher said: 'Yes I have had a facelift, but who hasn't? I have become the plastic surgery poster girl. It bothers me sometimes, but not enough to hold back my progress.

'Everyone says I am terrified of getting old, but the truth is that in my job becoming old and becoming extinct are one and the same thing and becoming obsolete and useless is completely unattractive to me.'
