A huge funfair, an enormous ice-rink, a giantscreen cinema, a German-style Christmas market and, of course, Santa himself. Despite its disastrous beginnings, The Dome is turning into a useful venue for large-scale events. The Tsunami rollercoaster is genuinely thrilling, the old carousel is charming and the market a great place to shop, making this a fantastic family evening out.

The dad of lad-lit discusses his latest offering, 31 Songs, now out in paperback. To be in a position where you can release an annotated list of your favourite songs and watch it climb to the top of the best-seller list is no mean feat; in person Hornby proves endearing enough not to begrudge him his success. Here, with the help of DJ Mark Radcliffe, he plays us the tunes - useful, as it's an eclectic bunch (from Nelly Furtado to Teenage Fanclub), not widely represented in most households' CD collections.

Clint Eastwood's latest is still on release at a handful of cinemas. An ex-con colludes with two childhood friends to avenge the murder of his daughter. Tense psychological drama.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Russell Crowe gives a rousing performance in this boy's own adventure set on the high seas during the Napoleonic wars. For £80 million it's an unexpectedly thoughtful epic.

Bigger Than Life

Nicholas Ray's stark depiction of Ed Avery's descent from liberal teacher to drug-addled maniac (a very eerie James Mason) still sends shivers down the
spine. A welcome screening for the 1950s masterpiece.

Thoroughly Modern Millie
Shaftesbury Theatre. £20.50-£40.50. Tube: Holborn. Despite its underwhelming score, TMM exudes a certain toe-tapping 1920s charm with Amanda Holden in exuberant form as the eponymous flapper.

Young Emma
Finborough Theatre, SW10. £8. Tube: Earl's Court. Based on WH Davies's memoirs - too sordid for publication in his lifetime - this fine play details the poet's scandalous relations with a young harlot.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses

The High Llamas
ICA, SW1. £9-£11. Tube: Charing Cross, Piccadilly Circus. Surely, the time is finally right for the Llamas, veteran psychedelic interpreters of the Beach Boys who merit a wider audience.

Sixteen Hallelujahs

A stunning gamut of choral works, including Handel's Messiah, conducted by Harry Christophers.
