Top chefs join forces for the homeless

They are simply the best chefs in London. And now, you can justify the expense of eating in their restaurants by knowing your meal is helping the homeless.

Marco Pierre White, Jean Christophe Novelli, Gary Rhodes and Anton Edelmann are among 60 new chefs joining the likes of Gordon Ramsay and Terence Conran for this year's charitable StreetSmart initiative.

The scheme - founded eight years ago at the Groucho Club by Mary-Lou Sturridge and William Sieghart and supported by the Standard - has raised more than £1.4 million for homeless projects by adding a voluntary £1 to diners' bills in November and December.

A record 400-plus restaurants, 260 in London, are taking part this year.
