The Boys' cutting edge

In an age of manufactured, homogenised pop, it is heartening to see the Pet Shop Boys still pushing back the boundaries. This week's opening of a show by photographer Martin Parr at the Rocket Gallery includes a video to the PSB's new track 'London' directed by Parr.

This isn't the first time Neil and Chris have worked with visual artists. There have been collaborations ranging from the late, great Derek Jarman to Bruce Weber and Juergen Teller.

The theme of the track and the video is our fair capital, with the Boys busking in locations ranging from the Millennium Bridge to Elephant And Castle Tube station. It is Parr's first pop promo and he seems happy with the results. 'It turned out to be a beautiful job because of the simplicity of the idea, reflecting scenes of everyday London as opposed to the tourist trail,' he says. Also on show will be other examples of Parr's work, including shots he took of the North Circular road as a project for the Big Issue.
