The best of the auctions

The World Cup winner's medal awarded to goalie Gordon Banks after England's legendary 4-2 triumph over West Germany in 1966 fetched £124,750 at auction on Friday - way above its estimated value. Banks received just £1,000 at the time for playing the match. The mystery phone bidder scored the medal at Football Memorabilia, held at Christie's South Kensington.

SUPER CAR

Raiding the piggy bank is just not going to be enough to secure this particular toy for the boys - the 1960 Maserati Tipo 60 Birdcage, 2-seater sports-racing car in 'racing red'. A unique first production model, the property of just one collector for the last 35 years, and never restored (£800,000-£1.2million). CELEBRITY WARES

A second sale of selected pieces from the Royal Doulton Reserve Collection. Among the many trial or prototype pieces on offer is a 'character' jug of John Lennon (£1,500-£2,000) and a figurine of Lady Di (£500-£700). MODERN REVIEW

Conceived to make cutting-edge contemporary art more accessible ? that is, affordable - this sale includes prints, multiples and editions. There is certainly plenty for foot fetishes - the cover lot is of ankles and feet strapped into high-heeled sandals and snapped by Vanessa Beecroft (£6,000-£8,000), and inside is a bound foot by Jenny Savile, a painting produced for her degree show in 1992 (estimate £15,000-£20,000). No doubt most eyes, however, will be drawn to the 'Le Garcon Papillon (Kevin Meyer)' by the French artists Pierre et Gilles, the pouting young butterfly himself cavorting among flowers in spangled posing pouch. TOPOGRAPHIC STILLS

Three works here by Anna Mary Robertson (1860-1961), better known as Grandma Moses, the American folk painter. The first is of Mount Airy, the farm where Grandma Moses lived following her marriage to Thomas Moses in 1887 (£20,000-£30,000). THE MAX FACTOR

A wonderfully rich group of 54 drawings by the Leipzig artist Max Klinger takes centre stage here. The property of the heirs of Gustav and Clara Stein Kirstein, they represent just part of the Klinger Collection returned to its rightful owners last year through the Commission For Art Recovery of the World Jewish Congress.
