Tasting life in Tudor London

In the high-spirited world of the 21st century, we imagine that life was a bit dull in the 16th century, assuming that partying is a modern invention.

Spend a day at the National Trust's Sutton House in east London and find out just how wrong you are. In this free-entry discovery day you'll learn how the Tudors partied, how they danced and sung. Also, for those willing to be outlandish, or with children, you can dress up in Tudor costume and bedeck yourself in sparkling jewels of the period.

Tudor games also feature and there'll be some party food from the period to keep those hunger pangs at bay.

There's also a special tour of Sutton House, built in 1535 (when Hackney was a rural village) by Ralph Sadlier, a rising star in the court of Henry VIII, which will uncover the secrets of this wonderful home.
