In her Dancing Queen days, all she really wanted was to stay quietly at home.

And once she left Abba, Agnetha Faltskog rarely stepped out of her front door.

The woman who sold 350million records as part of the Swedish supergroup spent more than 20 years in self-imposed solitude.

But something - or rather someone - has managed to lure her into the public eye again.

And it wasn't simply to a quiet corner of a discreet restaurant.

The reclusive 55-year-old singer was spotted in one of Stockholm's most fashionable nightclubs on Saturday.

And according to Swedish reports, she showed no signs of wanting to be alone.

She was seen kissing and holding hands with 61-year-old entrepreneur Bertil Nordstrom in the VIP section of Club Plaza. After slow dancing to a love song and kissing passionately, the couple were the last to leave the club at 3.30am.

Mr Nordstrom is divorced but believed to have a live-in girlfriend. He is a close friend of the King and Queen of Sweden, Carl Gustaf and Silvia, who are godparents to his two children.

Last night, a Swedish source said: 'Bertil is a very dear and trusted friend of the royals and is one of the very privileged few who can enter the gates to the Royal Palace in Stockholm whenever he pleases.

'The King and Queen were guests of honour at his wedding and are godparents to his children so he is obviously a pretty high-profile figure over here.

'Bertil and Agnetha have known each other for over 25 years but this is the first time they have gone public with their romance. It is early days, but they seem to be fantastically happy together.'

Said to have a £5million fortune, Miss Faltskog has lived like a hermit in a £3million mansion on the remote Swedish island of St Helgo.

Her last relationship was with a Dutch forklift driver, Gert van der Graf, who had stalked her with cards and letters for 20 years before romance finally blossomed.

After they split in 1999, he hounded her until she sought a restraining order on him.

Her first husband was her former Abba bandmate, Bjorn Ulvaeus, with whom she has two children, Linda, 31, and Christian, 25.
