Summer In the City

The British weather permitting, summer will finally arrive at the South Bank this weekend with the start of an international summer fiesta.

The National Theatre is bringing some of the best international artists to the square between the NT and the Thames.

For ten weeks, the NT will play host to a range of free street theatre, music, acrobatics, comedy and entertainment. More than 75 street artists will perform at regular afternoon and early evening slots. Evenings will see music and club events, such as Club Montepulciano's Bongo Beach Party (Sat 22 Jun, 5pm-11.30pm), featuring live lounge music, kitsch performance and cabaret.

Bands scheduled to perform include the Dhol Foundation (Fri 21 Jun, 6.15pm), the acoustic trio Mas Y Mas (Tue 25 Jun, 6.15pm) and the Bollywood Brass Band, Europe's first Indian wedding brass band (Fri 21 Jun, 1.15pm). Call for full details.
