ShowbizStar wins £4m for 'shoddy' houseEd Harris|Evening Standard11 April 2012Hollywod star Sandra Bullock has been awarded about £4 million in damages after she claimed a builder carried out shoddy work on her Texas home.The star of Miss Congeniality has been locked in a legal battle with the builder of the lakefront home she has never moved into and which is unfinished after seven years.A Texas jury awarded Bullock the damages after she claimed the builder was responsible for £2.4 million repairs to the house.Lawyers for the builder, Benny Daneshjou, said he plans to appeal.Witnesses testified the house had water damage, a faulty roof, wiring that was too small and masonry damage.Mr Daneshjou's lawyers said a former project manager and most of the subcontractors were to blame.Bullock won more than £1.2 million for repairs and £234,000 for maintaining the house since February 2000 as well as costs and other damages.Pictures of the unfinished house and its turrets, fireplaces and a spiral staircase were flashed onto a huge screen in court f.MORE ABOUTBricklayerBrickworkFireplaces And Ovens
