Space for Milan in a van

A new contemporary space opens on Sunday, providing a centre for the V&A's acclaimed contemporary programme, which during the past three years has built a strong following with successful projects such as the monthly Friday Late View, Fashion In Motion and Chihuly's smashing glass sculptures.

Milan In A Van is the space's inaugural show. As the title suggests, a more salubrious furniture removal van than your average Pickfords will be pitching up to unload the hottest designs from the Milan Furniture Fair (including Arik Levy's Get Set office system, right).

So rather than chilling on the fusty horse-hair filled sofa this weekend, check out new products, materials and prototypes in a global showcase by cutting-edge designers such as the Bourellec brothers and Pia Wallen, who will be throwing down the gauntlet to the old guard. Habitat, watch out.
