Nothing stimulates the senses more than sight (well, maybe taste and sound, but let's forget that for a second) - so what better to get you in the mood for Chocolate Week than watching a couple of chocolate-themed films? And they do exist - we've found them...

Like Water For Chocolate (Como agua para chocolate) 1992

Based on the bestselling book by Laura Esquivel, this Mexican film is one of the most tantalisingly sensual you will ever see - and leave you wildly hungry! Using recipes as metaphors for emotions, would-be lovers Tita and Pedro are forbidden to marry by her overbearing mother. But through her magical cooking, Tita is able to convey her passion for her one true love.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 1970

Now being remade with Johnny Depp in the title role, this is a kids classic that adults can still enjoy. Impoverished Charlie Bucket finds a Golden Ticket in a Willy Wonka chocolate bar, and so with four other children is allowed a trip into the marvellous, fantastical chocolate factory. The spot-on performance of Gene Wilder perfectly skewers Wonka's eccentric character, and the songs are great. 'Oompa, ooompa, oompa di-do...'

Chocolat 2000

Single mother Juliette Binoche moves to a small French village with her daughter in this sugary-sweet movie. After opening their chocolate confectioners, she begins to warm the hearts of the wide array of colourful characters through her mouth-watering treats. An appearance by Johnny Depp also gives added meaning to the phrase 'eye candy'...
