Snicket's the kids' hot ticket

Hollywood's finest found that a child was the musthave accessory for the premiere of Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events.

Jane Seymour saw the film with her husband and children. Catherine Bell came with her baby, Gemma, walking up the red carpet with the tot tucked under her arm.

Krista Allen brought her son Jacob, and Rita Wilson, wife of Tom Hanks, arrived with their son Chester.

Jude Law, who has a leading part in Jim Carrey's adaptation of Daniel Handler's popular novels, was noticeable by his absence. The Alfie star, on location in Louisiana, plays the voice of Lemony Snicket. The comic star of the movie, Carrey, who plays the villain Count Olaf, came alone to the matinée at Hollywood's Cinerama Dome and his co-star Meryl Streep was also there.

Robert Downey Jr was there with his partner Susan Levin and son from his first marriage, Indio. Billy Connolly arrived looking every inch the villain, dressed head-to-toe in black and long moustache, pointy beard and large hooped earring.

But the child actors who play the heroic friends who fight Olaf 's evil, drew most of the attention. Twoyearold twins Kara and Shelby Hoffman, dressed in matching red satin dresses, clung tightly to each other on the red carpet.

But Liam Aiken, 14, enjoyed the moment and Emily Browning, 16, wearing a slinky gold evening gown, happily posed for the cameras.
