Fresh from starring on Pias Recordings' Electric Soul compilation, Detroit's Amp Fiddler brings his six-piece band to Electrowerkz for

Joseph Anthony has a unique sound: hip hop, funk, soul and electronica bleed into a hazy hinterland with polished lyrics and messages of substance. It's no surprise to discover Anthony was one of Carl Craig's collection of Detroit musicians who jammed so sublimely on the Detroit Experiment LP, and that he has worked with Slum Village's Jaydee (who also produces on Amp Fiddler's forthcoming album, Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly). He's obviously highly rated by the cognoscenti: tomorrow's DJ support comes from definitive tastemaker Gilles Peterson, Kev Beadle and Colin Patterson.

From humble beginnings above a brewery in Liverpool three and a half years ago, Chibuku Shake Shake hosts its first night in London this weekend. Word of its intimate party vibe has spread far and wide - Chibuku put on Photek, The Rapture, Grooverider and Gilles Peterson at Manchester's Tribal Gathering in August - and the success of its free weekly residency at The Social (Yousef and Dave Beer have dropped by for impromptu sets) has encouraged the four friends behind the night to give Chibuku a whirl in the capital.

The Avalanches' amiable and extraordinarily skilled DJ Dexter headlines, stirring up hip hop, funk, soul, pop, dance and rock sure to tear the roof off and short-circuit The Key's disco dancefloor. The Social (Little Portland Street W1) hosts the pre-party, with coaches to The Key.
