We have had Big Brother, The Osbournes and even At Home With The Eubanks. Now meet the Wades from East Finchley.

This is the latest take on reality drama, in which a nuclear family will transform their unremarkable Victorian semi into what they hope will be regarded as a living work of art.

Daniel and Eti Wade are opening their home to the prying public, free of charge, on the second Sunday of every month between now and March. And the pair insist life with their sons, Mikha'el, 10, and Yonatan, three, will carry on as normal.

In a style perhaps more synonymous with Tracey Emin, the Wades' dirty linen will be on view for all to see. Family rows and all the routine household chores will be part of the package.

The couple say they want to "challenge" the idea of the middle-class family and force audiences to question their own domestic set-up. They also plan to publish a book, or make a film, based on the experience. It's a brainwave they dub The 2.4 Project.

"We'll be doing DIY, making lunch, watching TV. If the boys are hitting each other, we'll shout," says Daniel, 37, a multimedia artist. "We expect there will be people going through our cupboards and sock drawers, and that's their right."

Eti, 34, a photography lecturer at Thames Valley University, agrees. "We haven't hidden anything," she insists. "The idea is to carry on as normal."

But the family au pair and lodger are understandably less enthusiastic than the Wades themselves. Their rooms, and the study, says Daniel, will be the only out-of-bounds areas. Mikha'el, the eldest son, has mixed feelings as well.

"Mikha'el at first was ambivalent," Daniel says. "We nearly cancelled because we thought it was going to be too much for him ... If he doesn't want his room open then it won't be."

So how are the couple going to guard against potential crooks sneaking in to case the joint? "We're hiring a doorman," explains Daniel. "And we're also going to have video cameras, partly as security and also because we might turn those into another project." Audiences will have to register by email to join a guest list, rather than walking in directly off the street.
