As a child growing up in the Canary Islands, he made tin foil shoes for monkeys and lizards, but these days his gravity-defying confections of leather, silk and ribbon twinkle on the feet of the world's most glamorous women. Madonna insists they are better than sex, and Sex And The City's Sarah Jessica Parker was seen teetering on a pair the day before she gave birth. This retrospective is as close as most of us will get to the real thing, and it's sure to lure chicly-shod hoards.

Constable To Delacroix: French Art And The British Romantics

We Brits are so used to deferring to the French when it comes to romance, but in the 19th-century, the ideas and influences that defined high Romanticism were crossing the Channel in quite the opposite direction. Bringing together over a hundred watercolours and oils by some of the greatest European painters of their time, this rich show traces the influence of Constable, Turner and other British artists on the likes of Gericault and Delacroix.

This very Victorian lady was nearing her 50s when her son and daughter-in-law presented her with a camera. She embraced the fledgling medium with a passion, converting the greenhouse of her Isle Of Wight home into a studio and persuading everyone from family and neighbours to famous passers-by to pose for her. She has gone down in history as the first woman photographer, and of the hundreds of searching portraits she composed in just a decade, 120 are on show here, strongly influenced by the pre-Raphaelites. They include an image of the man who coined the term 'photography'.

'Skill' has long since become a dirty word in the fine art scene, but this ambitious and refreshingly boundary-breaking exhibition sets out to explore the process of making. Curated by Brit artist Jonathan Parsons, it draws on both fine and applied art, prioritising content over concept and showcasing a series of works whose very meaning derives from the way in which they are realised. Among the many intriguing pieces are an interactive ceramic installation by Clare Twomey, and Parsons's own heavily crafted mirror-images of graffiti.
