Noel Edmonds says he has harnassed the power of the cosmos.

Noel Edmonds said today he was not "away with the fairies" after crediting the phenomenal revival of his TV career to a belief in harnessing the power of the cosmos.

He said he had seen a string of "wishes" come true after placing his faith in a German book advocating a new age faith - including his plea for a "new challenge" after the break-up of his 19-year marriage, which he says came in the form of Channel 4's hugely successful game show, Deal or No Deal.

In a move that will draw parallels with that other eccentric TV presenter drawn to powers beyond this world, David Icke, Edmonds is to reveal the meaning behind the bizarre symbols he has been seen sporting on one hand.

Edmonds will impart the secrets of his recent fortune after signing a £500,000 deal to pen a self-help book.

In one of the quickest turnarounds in publishing, he signed the contract with Vermilion last week and is now frantically scribbling for the release date on 27 July. Edmonds, 57, credits his newfound success to a book called Cosmic Ordering Service.

Since he namechecked the book its German author, Munich guru Barbel Mohr, has seen copies fly off the shelves - shooting to the top of the Amazon bestseller list.

Edmonds said: "You'll think I've gone away with the fairies but it's fantastic. It is quite reassuring about life after death and spiritual things."

It says cosmic ordering can be achieved by:

Placing a wish - or order.
Removing any negatives from it - the cosmos does not recognise negatives.
Clearing your mind of the order.
Never repeating it - as the cosmos heard you the first time.

Edmonds's own deal sees him capitalise on the interest that has surrounded his unexpected - and rapid - return to the limelight.

Called Positively Happy, the book will be a guide to "banishing negativity" and "creating your own luck".

A source close to Edmonds promised it would "tell all" about the bizarre squiggles and symbols he has been seen wearing on his hand when he rings The Banker on the show, in which contestants can win up to £250,000 if they gamble on the contents of red boxes. The symbols include a black star, a black arrow, a circle and a cloud with drops of rain.

Edmonds himself has promised: "It's a quite deliberate code and people will have the opportunity to crack it."

A friend says: "The book is still a work-in-progress and Noel is holed up spending his every free minute getting it written, but it will be an inspirational read - and it will tell all about those symbols everyone's seen on his hand."

Vermilion director Clare Hulton said: "It's a powerful and engaging self-help book that will show readers how they, like Noel, can achieve happiness."

The runaway success of Deal or No Deal marked Edmond's comeback six years after his acrimonious split from the BBC, which came after Noel's House Party was axed. In his heyday he was paid about £5 million to host the show - famous for his sidekick Mr Blobby and its practical jokes - as well as Telly Addicts and Telly Years.

After his 30-year career with the BBC came to an end in 2000, offers of work dried up. Early last year he separated from wife Helen and he later moved out of their £10 million Gothic manor in Devon.

But last October he started as host of the Channel 4 daytime game show, which now has viewing figures of up to five million. Edmonds's success as the presenter led to a Bafta nomination this year.

He is also said to have found new love with a French estate agent, Marjan Simmons.

Edmonds recently bought a £1.7 million, 40-room Grade II-listed manor house in 30 acres of Devon countryside.

Former sports presenter Icke believes the world is ruled by a secret group of reptilian humanoids.
