This half of the fashion police pair is a shopping binger with a weak spot for Zara, Oasis, Prada and Matches

Where do you live and why?

In North Kensington because it's cheaper than Notting Hill where I used to live in a one-bedroom flat. Once I had a family, I had to move. My daughter, Lyla, is one now.

How long have you lived there?

Two years and I love it. It's full of people who have lived in the area for a long time. Your neighbours look out for you and I really think that's important when you live in a big city. I grew up in London until I was six, then I lived in France, Germany and Switzerland. I came back when I was 16.

What was the last play you saw in London and did you enjoy it?

Tragically, it was The Play What I Wrote a while ago. I loved it because I used to love Morecambe and Wise. I wanted to see the latest David Hare play but I never got round to getting tickets.

What advice would you give to a tourist?

Take an open-top double-decker bus around London. I did it recently and it gives you the best view.

What is your earliest London memory?

Aged two, with a little red suitcase running away from my mother or a nanny in Kensington Gardens. I was quite a stubborn child and wanted my own way.

What do you miss most when you're out of London?

My friends. I don't miss the weather or the traffic, but I miss wearing my trackie bottoms and pottering around the house on a Sunday.

What are your extravagances?

Clothes. I have a bit of a problem. Susannah is very good so I shop for her because she doesn't shop enough. I'm always researching so it might be a binge in Zara or Oasis. If you are an over-shopper you don't treasure a purchase so much, whereas if you save up and stick to your budget, those clothes mean so much more to you. That is going to be my New Year's resolution - to graze and not to binge.

What would you do if you were Mayor for the day?

I would not introduce the congestion charge in Kensington and Chelsea. I live in one of the five streets that won't be in the zone, but if I want to take my daughter to the doctor or pick up a newspaper, I will pay £5, which is appalling.

What is your life philosophy?

Try not to live in the past or the future but focus on the present.

How do you get around town?

I drive an Audi when I've got my daughter with me, and a Mini when I'm pretending I'm still a single girl.

What are your current projects?

We're doing a Christmas celebrity special of the BBC show, What Not To Wear.

What scent do you wear?

Vetiver by Guerlain - a men's scent I've worn for 20 years.

What have been your most memorable London meals?

Forget the people, it's the food I remember. I would have to say rice pudding at The Ivy. I also love cod in batter at 202, a café in Notting Hill. Also, Marine Ices near The Round House in Camden Town. They have the best ice cream in London.
