Mischa: Sorry, Rod who?

Fatherhood at 61 clearly agrees with Rod Stewart. Usually, it's the rocker's model fiancée Penny Lancaster, 35, who is the dancing queen of any party.

But it was Rod who wowed guests by performing some disco moves at a charity event. The singer, who is set to marry Penny, mother of his eight-month-old son Alistair, next month looked like a sexagenarian schoolboy in striped tie and blazer as he leapt onto a chair to strut his stuff.

He was moved to groove by a rendition of Sex Machine by soul legend James Brown, one of the surprise acts at the annual Berkeley Square ball. But his impromptu fandango was rather lost on one fellow guest, American actress Mischa Barton.

The 20-year-old star of teenage US drama The O.C. arrived at the party to be told she would be sharing a table with the singer - only to ask blankly: "Rod who?"

Other guests at the £ 600- a- head ball included England fast bowler Freddie Flintoff and wife Rachael, enjoying a night off from parenting duties. Their second son Corey was born in March.

Actor David Thewlis was also there, leaving partner Anna Friel at home with their one-year-old daughter Gracie. Other guests were former East Ender Michelle Ryan, TV presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Mark Lamarr and Madonna producer William Orbit. The ball, held in a marquee in the square, raises cash for the Prince's Trust.
