Learn the Bergdorf lingo

BBs converse in text messages in their own private slang, which is almost indecipherable to mere mortals. Here's how to speak Bergdorf...

Beyond: not somewhere far away. It's a substitute superlative replacing words like fabulous/ stunning/gorgeous - "That eyebrow wax is beyond."

Llamas on Madison: insanely glamorous South American girls who gallop up Madison in ponchos and pearls.

Fake Bake: tan acquired at Portofino Sun Soho Spa on West Broadway.
Clinical: depressed, as in clinical depression.

The Fritz: abbreviation for "the f***ing Ritz," as in The Ritz Hotel, Paris - because they stay there so much and it's boring.

TALKING DIRTY

Brazil: the code word for sex, alluding to the bit where women have a Brazilian wax. It is something which obsesses Sykes's character: "You know me, when faced with a choice between another glass of Pimm's or a trip to Brazil, I'll always take the Brazil."

Rainforest: continuing the South American theme,having sex is called "visiting the rainforest", as in "Darling, Sting and Trudie visit the rainforest all the time and no one thinks they're needy."

Tiramisu: great sex - "We were whipping up some very serious tiramisu on the sofa."

A GIRL NEEDS HER ATM

Bergdorf Blondes don't have time to speak proper English; if you're a member of their club, you have to know their abbreviations

ATM: automatic teller machine - New York's equivalent of a cashpoint - meaning a rich boyfriend.

PJ: what your ATM's family must have - a private jet.

MIT: Mogul-in-Training, a boyfriend climbing the Wall Street ladder.

MTM: the best friend you now hate because she's Married to Mogul.

ANOs: The ANO-rexic girls living on Park Avenue.

THE THREE COMMANDMENTS

"Be fluent in French, intermittently. I'm really good at words like moi and trés."

"Be concerned for others' wellbeing. I mean, if a friendly billionaire offers you a ride on his PJ (private jet), one is morally bound to say yes."
