Keith Richards hits out at rap music: ‘I don’t like to hear people yelling at me’
Keith Richards has given an insight into his current music tastes and revealed the genres you will not be finding on his playlist.
The Rolling Stones veteran, 79, who co-founded the legendary rock group in 1962 alongside frontman Sir Mick Jagger, tends to lean towards blues, classical, and jazz.
Speaking ahead of the release of the band’s first album of new material in almost 20 years, titled Hackney Diamonds on October 20, Richards “rubbished” all pop music and hit out at rap.
“I don’t want to start complaining about pop music,” he began, “It’s always been rubbish. I mean, that’s the point of it.
“They make it as cheap and as easy as possible and therefore it always sounds the same – there’s very little feel in it.”
Speaking to the Telegraph, the (I Just Can’t Get No) Satisfaction hit-maker continued: “I like to hear music by people playing instruments. I don’t like to hear plastic synthesised muzak, as it used to be known.

“I don’t really like to hear people yelling at me and telling me it’s music, rap. I can get enough of that without leaving my house.”
