Kate is back in front row

It had to happen sooner or later, but it took a 150th anniversary to tempt her back. Kate Moss stepped into the spotlight to take front row at Burberry Prorsum and celebrate the British label's really big birthday.

A spokesman before the show said: "Kate is part of the Burberry family and it is only natural that she should be here."

Dressed in next season's quilted leather jacket, and black knee length dress, Kate looked relaxed as she chatted with other " family" members including photographer Mario Testino and Burberry head Rose Marie Bravo. She was even joined by the father of her daughter Lila Grace, publisher Jefferson Hack, in the cosy front-row line up last night.

Burberry has always played down any falling out with Moss over her spot of bother last year - borne out in her support for designer Christopher Bailey's latest collection.

And the clothes? Yorkshire born Bailey served up a greatest hits collection to mark the occasion with the classic trench coat taking centre stage, run up in everything from lace to quilted leather, as well as ruffled chiffon dresses, grey shadow-check wrap coats, sweet knitwear, trouser suits and panne velvet shift dresses.

The only letdown was the swathes of fur - a big trend in Milan - that edged everything from the cuffs of coats to the hems of simple evening dresses. Model Stella Tennant opened the show in a line-up that included Mariacarla Boscono, the Italian who stepped into Kate's shoes when she was dropped from H&M last year.

Chief executive Rose Marie Bravo leaves this June after nine years - transforming Burberry from a company valued at £200 million to a £1.97 billion concern. With a great collection on the catwalk and Kate perched front row, Bravo couldn't have picked a better show to bow out on.
