Justin Timberlake announced during a birthday gig in New York that he wanted to apologise to "absolutely f***ing nobody", days after Britney Spears "apologised" to him.

The singer, 43, recently revealed a North American tour and a new album. He also released his first single in nearly six years, titled Selfish.

She also opened up on how he made her look like a "harlot who’d broken the heart of America's golden boy" when they broke up.

Spears' loyal fans even sent her 2011 song Selfish back up the charts right after he dropped his new single with the same name.

Earlier this week, she offered a surprise olive branch by saying she is "deeply sorry" for "some of the things" she wrote while also praising his new music.

Timberlake performed a free, one-night-only concert on Wednesday at Irving Plaza in New York City to mark his 43rd birthday.

In a clip posted to social media, Timberlake can be seen taking a break from singing at one point to speak to the crowd.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to absolutely f***ing nobody,” he said into the microphone, as the band played the musical accompaniment of his 2013 Jay-Z collaboration Holy Grail in the background.

Given the timing, many have linked Timberlake’s bold non-apology to Spears’s recent statement.
