Jen granted her divorce

The once golden marriage of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston is all but over.

Court papers released last night revealed that it will be finally dissolved on October 2.

It means Pitt will then be free to marry new love Angelina Jolie.

Friends star Miss Aniston, who originally filed for divorce in March, asked for only one thing - to get her name back.

It means she will officially be Jennifer Joanna Aniston once more, according to Los Angeles Superior Court papers filed on Friday and released last night.

Miss Aniston, 36, spent yesterday in Chicago where she is in the middle of filming the movie Breakup. Ironically it is about a couple who split up, although in the film she is forced to live with her former partner. She spent time away from the set yesterday playing in a park with a friend.

Pitt signed off on the divorce papers under his full name of William Bradley Pitt and Miss Aniston - who has officially been called Jennifer Pitt since their wedding - also signed on the dotted line.

Neither of them are contesting the proceedings and insiders say their estimated £200million fortune will be carved up amicably as both are among Hollywood's top earners. Each can make £5million a film.

The pair's Hollywood Hills home, which they spent two years decorating, is likely to be sold.

Retired judge Jill S. Robbins granted the couple their divorce, after they paid her £300 an hour to mediate between them in secret talks at their lawyer's offices to avoid their dirty laundry being aired in public court papers.

The final court papers - case number BD423518 - confirming the divorce were filed in LA Superior Court on August 19.

The papers state: ' Judgment of dissolution is entered. Marital or domestic partnership is terminated and the parties are restored to the status of single persons on October 2, 2005.'

The papers continue: 'The petitioner's former name is restored - Jennifer Joanna Aniston.'

The couple wed in July 2000 and had what was believed to be one of the most loving marriages in Hollywood.

But rumours of problems first surfaced a year ago when it was reported that Pitt was getting close to Miss Jolie, his co-star in the film Mr and Mrs Smith. Just after Christmas Pitt and Miss Aniston announced they were separating but denied anyone else was involved. Since then, Pitt, 40, has become almost inseparable from Miss Jolie, 30.

There have been claims that the marriage was under pressure because Miss Aniston did not want children but Pitt did. However, in a recent interview she said: 'I've never in my life said I didn't want to have children. I did and I do and I will!'
