Jacko 'begged to sleep with my son'

Michael Jackson broke down in tears and begged to be allowed to sleep in the same bed as a 13-year-old boy, his trial has heard.

June Chandler told the court Jackson was "sobbing and trembling" as he accused her of betraying their "family" and not allowing her son Jordan to share his bed during a trip to Las Vegas in 1993.

Jackson, 46, denies charges of molesting another boy, Gavin Arvizo, 15, and false imprisonment.

The court in Santa Maria, near Jackson's Neverland ranch, heard how Mrs Chandler even saw the star and her son in bed together - and how Jackson would stay in Jordan's room in her home even though there was only one bed.

She said her son's behaviour soon deteriorated and he grew "sullen". She said she had another tearful confrontation with the star when she tried to intervene with the sleepovers, saying they had got "out of hand".

Mrs Chandler said her son was a huge fan of the singer when they met in Los Angeles in the summer of 1992.

Jordan would eventually allege that he had been molested by Jackson and the star made an out of court settlement with the boy for more than $20 million. Mrs Chandler said the first confrontation over the relationship came in March 1993 when Jackson took them to Las Vegas to see the Cirque du Soleil show, and she was concerned because Jackson and Jordan did not go to the show as planned.

Giving evidence under examination from District Attorney Tom Sneddon, Mrs Chandler told the court how Jackson "was sobbing and crying and shaking and trembling", when she confronted him.

"He said, 'You don't trust me, we are family, why are you doing this to me? Why are you not allowing Jordan to be with me?'

"I said that he was with him, and he said, 'But my bedroom, why are you not allowing him in my bedroom-What I said to Michael was this is not anything that I want." But she said the star continued to beg her for "20 or 30 or 40 minutes", stressing that they were family and that he was offended that she did not trust him.

Mrs Chandler said that she finally relented - and from then on her son would always stay in Jackson's room.

Under cross-examination from Jackson's attorney Thomas Mesereau, she told the court she had not spoken to her son for 11 years.
