It's party time!

The first anniversary of the alliance between Warm and Berlin's producer collective Jazzanova happens at the Medicine Bar this weekend. It's an impressive feat for Warm, which began as a club night in Bournemouth three years ago, as Jazzanova's mates include Gilles Peterson, 4Hero, Masters At Work and Vikter Duplaix. Jazzanova and said mates are at the hub of the nu jazz/broken beat sound that has taken root in the capitals of cool, including London, New York, Berlin, Paris and Tokyo. Jazzanova's Jurgen, producers Ame and singer Clara Hill, who's provided the stirring soul on Jazzanova's back catalogue, look after the basement. Upstairs, it's Warm's founders, Ali Tillet and Sean Brosnan, with butt-wiggling, 21st-century soul.

After three years of successful monthly nights at Cargo, ComeShakeTheWhole returns to George IV for a one-off. Brixton's George IV is a dive, but that's the attraction when half of London's clubs are Identikit. Resident Stan Fontan, who's been plying his mish-mash of house, techno, funk and disco for seven years at CSTW, is joined by resident Ewan Pearson - one of the most in-demand producers and remixers of the mo' - playing electro soul, left-field disco and hard-edged, funky techno. There's also a gig from London four-piece Spektrum, fronted by the punky vocals of Lola, who count Matthew Herbert and Rob Da Bank as fans. Just don't wear box-fresh trainers or new kitten heels: this is going to be messy in both senses of the word.

Leeds Saturday night Club Asylum wings its way down the M1, joining the growing ranks of out-of-town nights setting up home in our fair capital (Friends & Family - Manchester, Mish Mash - Glasgow). Asylum leans towards left-field house, though it has recently wandered into beat territory, which is the focus for the launch tonight with guest Jazzy Jeff. The man's an absolute legend - inventing the transformer scratch, discovering Floetry, producing Jill Scott and bringing out his Magnificent LP (2002). But it's not former glories that make Jazzy Jeff a must-see: he plays hip hop, soul, funk, rare groove and soulful house and is an entertaining and mesmerising DJ to catch live.
