He's one DJ and producer we can guarantee won't fall into this trap at Saturday's Devin Dazzle's Big Night Out, which launches his Rocket Ride single. Felix is one of the few clubland figures who deserve the superstar title because he's waaaay ahead of the pack. Three years ago his debut LP Kittenz And Thee Glitz provided the substance to electro-clash's style-driven hype.

Vital new dance music was fashioned from the old (synthesizers, Vocodered vocals, 1980s nu wave and house), while in this May's follow-up, Devin Dazzle And The Neon Fever, live instruments feature heavily. Clubland crossover stars of '04 such as Scissor Sisters owe Felix for making the 1980s cool, and he's been picked by P Diddy (along with DJ Hell and Deep Dish) to work with the rap impresario's hot team of producers on the Diddyman's dance album.

Spacific

He may not be the best known name in clubland, but classically-trained saxophonist Nathan Haines has worked with many of the most respected names in dance music. The Kiwi has entranced dancefloors like a snake charmer, his saxophone playing alongside DJs including Paul Trouble Anderson and Dr Bob Jones, taking uplifting soulful house to an even more rarefied level.

Haines also dabbled in d'n'b, releasing on Goldie's Metalheadz label, before settling into the sounds of soulful house, where he's collaborated with Masters At Work, 4Hero and Miguel Migs. Last year saw the release of his LP, Squire For Hire (Chillifunk).

Tonight at Spacific Haines steps out of the background and into the spotlight with a ten-piece band and soul singers Vanessa Freeman and Marcus Begg. DJ support comes from Nikki Lucas (Bitches Brew/The Shrine) and Tubbs (Carbon), with jazz and soul-tinged house and broken beat.

High Rollers & Lucky Ladies

Following the sell-out success of their Footballers' Wives themed night in May, 7 Sins has upped the stakes (ahem) with High Rollers & Lucky Ladies - a night of high glamour, sophisticated cool and a casino. It's a hybrid of two of the biggest club phenomena of recent times. One is burlesque: dressing up spectacularly, with entertainment as well as DJs.

The other is the rise of urban as the new house - and the High Rolling soundtrack is discerning urban: hip hop, soul, R'n'B, rare groove. High Rollers... is the right side of intimate with a capacity of 400 and the night's aimed at a late twenty to thirtysomething crowd who want to party in style and not in a sweaty rave or a mucky, gurning club. Accordingly, the dress code is Vegas bling.

R House Vs Mulletover

A slice of late 1980s/early 1990s warehouse raving comes to London in all its smiley-faced glory at R House Vs Mulletover this weekend. While we like to be informed about going out by picking nights with fave DJs, or preferred venues, the opposite is true of warehouse parties.

Nights such as these are focused on what you don't know: such as the venue (coaches pick you up at 10.30pm from three sites and ferry you to the undisclosed location), music policy, running order and the infinite possibilities that partying hidden from any sort of authority throws up. One thing is certain - you will be surrounded by like-minded people daring to explore their wild side.
