Injured Almond thanks fans

Singer Marc Almond says he is "overwhelmed" by the support from fans as he recovers from his motorcycle accident.

The former Soft Cell star was left fighting for his life after the bike on which he was riding pillion collided with a car in central London on 17 October.

Almond, 45, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital where he spent 11 days in intensive care. The motorbike rider was also seriously hurt in the crash.

A message on the singer's website reads: "Marc has asked us to pass on his thanks for all the good wishes he has received from his fans. He is overwhelmed by the amount of support shown and says it has been a big help.

"He is recovering slowly in hospital but is confident he will get back to full health eventually, though he realises it is going to take time."

A spokeswoman for the Royal London Hospital said: "Marc Almond is continuing his recovery and has asked that his privacy be respected."
