In step with Faye at the Proms

I was chuffed to be asked to co-host the second Children's BBC Prom In The Park with Simon Thomas and Matt Baker from Blue Peter.

It's a great introduction to classical music - an opportunity for families to see top pop acts alongside the BBC Philharmonic, conducted by Rumon Gamba.

I will be busy - in addition to presenting and doing numbers with Steps, I'll be performing a song I wrote myself, accompanied by the orchestra.

I've been writing songs for about five years and this one, "If You Believe", from the last Steps album, has been specially rearranged for the Prom. I hope my mum will think the years of putting up with my screeching violin practice have finally paid off!

I will also be singing a duet with Russell Watson. Although I am honoured to be singing with Russell and having the opportunity to use my voice in a different way, I'm extremely nervous about it.

It promises to be an eventful afternoon. There are fantastic things lined up for kids - but it's for the whole family, with something for everyone, not just children. Jake, Fizz, Milo, Bella and Doodles, aka the Tweenies, will be helping us celebrate Postman Pat's 20th birthday, and Brit Award winners A1 will be making a special appearance.

I'm particularly looking forward to hearing Shovel [former M People percussionist and soon-to-be Record Breakers presenter] join forces with DJ Pied Piper And The Master Of Ceremonies to perform "Do You Really Like It?" with the Philharmonic, which should be amazing.

The Phil will also be playing some of the great popular classics that everyone knows, such as the "The Gallop" from the William Tell Overture and the "Sailors' Hornpipe", and we'll be rounding off the afternoon with "Land Of Hope And Glory". Stirring stuff - and great fun too.
