Hot summer dates

Fancy a hot date with Marilyn Monroe or Salvador Dali? The Gallery at County Hall is offering top summer deals to visitors including free entry for little ones, discounted entry for adults and extended opening hours, so you can avoid the heat and enjoy the art feeling sublime in the cooler evening air.

Home to Marilyn Monroe: Life of a Legend, the gallery showcases more than 250 works from famous artists and photographers, alongside memorabilia from the artist herself. Already the largest Marilyn show in the UK, the exhibition is set to grow in late summer to include Marilyn’s tombstone, the first ever picture taken of her plus the pill-box used when she died.

The Dali Universe at the gallery is the world’s largest sculptural collection by the twentieth century genius, with more than 500 works including the fabulous Mae West Lips Sofa and the iconic Lobster Telephone.

What’s the deal?

* Beat the heat and avoid the crowds with extended hours for all exhibitions until 8pm — last entry 7pm.

* Weekend Happy Hours: Visit the Dali Universe or Marilyn Monroe exhibitions for a discounted price of £5 (normal price £8.50) between 6pm and 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

* Kids go free: Children under ten get free entry to all exhibitions at the County Hall when accompanied by an adult

* Plus: A special film gala featuring Spellbound (1945, Alfred Hitchcock (August 13) is being screened to celebrate the birthday of esteemed director Alfred Hitchcock.
