Halle's night on the Razz

There's a fine line between success and failure - and Halle Berry has crossed it.

The Oscar-winning actress of three years ago has officially been voted the worst actress - for her role as Catwoman.

She was awarded the ' accolade' at the Razzies, before last night's Oscars, to mark the most-cringeworthy cinematic moments of the previous year.

But credit to Berry. Unlike dozens of other stars before her, she agreed to collect her award.

When she was presented with her Razzie, she said: 'They can't take this away from me, it's got my name on it.'

Then came the feigned hysteria and tears - a light-hearted version of what happened when she won her Oscar for Monster's Ball in 2002.

' I want to thank Warner Brothers for casting me in this piece of sh*t,' Berry, 38, told her audience. Dragging her agent on stage, she said: 'Next time, read the script first.' She even jokingly thanked everyone involved in Catwoman, a film she said sucked her from the top of her career to the bottom.

Then, to a standing ovation, she told the crowd in Los Angeles her mother had taught her that 'to be a good winner you had to be a good loser first'.

Razzies founder John Wilson admitted he felt sorry for Berry, saying Catwoman was a misguided career move.

'She's a very talented actress, a very beautiful woman, who just made a mistake,' he added.

'We're not trashing Halle as a human being. We're only saying, we're so sorry you chose to do this.'

The last actor to accept a Razzie in person was Tom Green for Freddy Got Fingered, in 2001.
