Adele lights up Glastonbury Festival with stunning Pyramid Stage performance

Adele said she realised a childhood dream as she made an emotional debut on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

The Londoner opened her set on the festival’s main stage with her chart-topping record Hello to wild screams from the crowd.

The star switched the lyrics of her smash hit to, "I'm at Glastonbury dreaming about who I used to be", as she took advantage of the location.

Flares illuminated the sky as the flag-waving crowd sang in unison when she launched into the chorus.

Adele shouted at the audience: “You're f***** amazing," before she frantically ran up and down the stage to wave to fans.

She appeared to be choked with tears as she clutched her chest at the end of the track.

The overwhelmed singer said: "This is mad. I'm going straight into another one, my darlings, I don't know what to say to you," before she launched into Rumour Has It.

During her set, Adele chatted to the crowd and pulled a 10-year-old girl up on stage for a hug and a selfie.

She also quizzed the crowd on their toilet habits, bet them £50 she would fall down on stage and joked about the BBC warning her for “strong language” in her performance.

She said: “The BBC had to give me a warning for my potty-mouth. Did Muse get that?

"I thought I would be coming on to a sodden hay bale, you've made my life," she told the crowd, before singing Water Under The Bridge and her James Bond track Skyfall.

"There's Michael Eavis, thanks for having me, Sir," she said breathily, tottering across the stage to see herself on all the screens, in awe of the size of the crowd.

"I watched Muse last night at home, had a Chinese, did some washing up. They were amazing, weren't they?"
