George sells his car on eBay

With almost 70,000 miles on the clock, a dent in the rear bumper and a few stray dog hairs, it would normally sell for about £3,000.

But such is the power of a world famous name that buyers are prepared to pay almost treble that amount for pop star George Michael's 14-year-old black Range Rover.

The singer paid £50,000 for the top-of-the-range model in 1991 and is now selling it on internet auction site eBay.

The 3.9 litre Range Rover Vogue SE was placed on the website on 16 April with a starting bid of £3,000 but the price has soared to £10,500.

It comes with air-conditioning, leather seats, cruise control and a "massive" stereo system, with three huge amps under the seats.

The auction site advertisement says: "This is a unique opportunity to own a car owned by one of the most talented singersongwriters of modern times. "It is without question a one-off, as this gentleman's vehicles would normally be handed down to family or friends." While the vehicle is not "by any stretch of the imagination in immaculate condition" it is still "perfectly usable".

In 1995 Michael, 41, had the car shipped to the south of France where he used it for a year while staying at his villa. Most recently it has been kept at his father's stud farm in Cyprus and has also been used to transport the singer's two labradors. All proceeds will go to Macmillan Cancer Relief in memory of Michael's mother, who died of cancer. The bidding closes today at 7.10pm.
