Known for?: Being an A-list star of the late 80s-early 1990’s who threw it away by allegedly being thoroughly difficult to work with (Joel Schumacher, director of Batman Forever, called him 'childish and impossible'), hearing of his marriage breakdown to Brit actress Joanne Whalley when it was announced on CNN.

Romance rocketed when: They reportedly began getting passionate on the set of the forthcoming epic Alexander, where Angie plays Queen Olympias and Val plays her husband King Phillip. Cosy!

Make or break: On-set romances between lusty Tinseltown celebs aren't noted for their longevity, and although there’s been no reports of trouble in paradise yet, the fact that Val's been quoted as saying: "I sure like Angelina Jolie. She's awfully busy, though," doesn’t bode terribly well.

Soppy speak: Val's been praising his lilo-lipped co-star to the skies in recent interviews. A selection of his recent ovations include: "Angelina is fantastic in the movie. Anybody that good is not an accident. The job is to make it look easy and she does that...And she looks great old, too...Dead people would even want to date her - she's amazingly gorgeous," etc etc. Methinks the man is besotted. However, Angie has also said of their relationship, "We're both really sensitive and nice to each other."

Biz Bitch says: Ahhh, now this is an interesting one. Angelina's a bit of a free spirit, and has been put off marriage by the bonkers BBT. Val's an intense, sober sort, who doesn't seem like he’d be much of a laugh. We don't see this one pitching up the aisle, but then again, who knows? Alternatively, this 'romance' could all be very clever PR shtick in the run-up to Alexander's release in November. Call us cynical...
