Until this year he was the littleknown, public school-educated son of a British rock icon.

Then Otis Ferry stormed Parliament with his pro-hunting friends and was seen by millions heckling MPs and grappling with the House of Commons "men in tights".

Now the activist, 21, is officially a star after being named the most eligible young man in the UK.

The son of Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry has been voted number two "most dateable" man in society magazine Tatler's prestigious "Little Black Book".

The annual tally of the sexiest bachelors and "bachelorettes" in Britain sees Ferry Jnr come second only to Hugh Grant.

"He is Master of the South Shropshire Hunt and a veteran of the Countryside Movement," swoons Tatler, adding breathlessly: "He's the latest public figure who scares Tony Blair to death."

But Otis does have stiff competition: his own father.

Ferry Snr, 59, is also one of the 100 most eligible men, described as the "smoothest crooner ... and the dandiest dresser".

And, keeping it in the family, Bryan's estranged wife Lucy - Otis's prohunting ex-model mother - wins a mention as one of the 100 most desirable women. Top in the women's list, Jemima Khan makes a perfect match for her current beau Hugh Grant.

"She's an Alpha female with a leonine mane," claims the magazine. "Men go potty over her."

Khan's ex, Imran, also makes the grade - one of the few fiftysomethings in a poll dominated by thrusting young aristocrats, Tories and the offspring of millionaires.

The 51-year-old cricketer-turned-politician is described as "so damn good-looking ... apart from the open-toe sandals he's absolute perfection".

When it comes to the women on the list, having a famous father seems to work well.

Elizabeth Jagger, Sir Richard Branson's daughter Holly, Trevor Eve's daughter Alice, Sir Peter Hall's daughter Rebecca, Imogen Lloyd Webber and Laura Parker Bowles all appear.

And Tracey Emin makes her first appearance, at number six, accompanied by a tribute saying her "hazelnut body shines in a bikini".
