Using found objects such as boats, beds and baths, Johnson explores the interior and exterior worlds, examining the complex metaphysical relationship between reality and how we perceive it. His new material continues these themes by creating what he refers to as 'apparent sources of light'. One example is Facing The Dark, which, with its bricked-up window and light projected from above, gives the impression the light is coming from the window itself to demonstrate the way our own perceptions are projected on to the world around us.
