Even my grandma thinks I won't get married now, says Rosamund Pike
Actress Rosamund Pike says she no longer feels any obligation to get married after her engagement was broken off three years ago.
The 32-year-old former Bond girl, whose new big-budget comedy Johnny English Reborn is released this Friday, spoke of the lessons she had learned from her break-up from film director Joe Wright.
The pair met on the set of Wright's adaptation of Pride & Prejudice in 2005 but split weeks before they were due to get married in 2008.Pike said: "When you're about to get married, and then you're not, it's all a big shock. You think, well, okay, so I'm never going to lead a totally conventional life now. It sort of cleans the slate and now I can be exactly who I am. Everyone gives you leeway too, because they can see that you've had something pretty painful go on.
"And in that, I find a tremendous freedom. I know I can be married or not married, live with someone or apart. Even my grandmother is no longer expecting me to go down a conventional route, which is nice."
The British star, who rents a flat in Kensington, told InStyle magazine she has a new man, but would not name him.
