He had arrived at 11.10am in a blue Jaguar. He was lying across the back seat with a blue coat covering him before quickly being ushered inside through a scrum of photographers.
Before entering Court One, a security guard asked Doherty to empty his pockets and he was searched.
Mr Sherry asked for a four-week adjournment for pre- sentence reports, bearing in mind that the singer is being investigated by the police for other similar offences.
"He is bailed to return to Stoke Newington Police Station on 20 January and further bail to return 6 February," Mr Sherry said.
Magistrate Gurdev Singh Dadral adjourned the hearing to 8 February but said that if Doherty was late again he would be in breach of his unconditional bail conditions.
As he left court the singer was embraced by fans who had been waiting outside the courtroom and then left in the same blue Jaguar he had arrived in half an hour earlier.
