Dave's all the rave on party circuit

David Cameron has emerged as London's most sought-after party guest.

The Tory leader and his wife Samantha have replaced Kate Moss at the top of Tatler's annual list of the "Hot 100" party animals in Britain.

They have also overtaken Keira Knightley, Elizabeth Hurley, Mick Jagger and Madonna.

According to the magazine, Mr and Mrs Cameron are currently "courted by every aspiring hostess" and, judging by the tally of parties the couple attended in recent weeks, it isn't hard to persuade them to turn up.

The Camerons did not appear on last year's list, which was headed by Moss. But the supermodel has now fallen out of favour after a year of allegations of drug abuse and a dalliance with Pete Doherty.

However, her former partner and father of her daughter, Jefferson Hack, is on the list along with his new girlfriend, model turned DJ Anouck Lepere. He appears at no 5.

Elsewhere, Pirates Of The Caribbean actor Tom Hollander and socialite Dixie Chassay - James Blunt's former girlfriend and the alleged inspiration for his hit You're Beautiful - are at no2.

The magazine says the actor is "small and seriously funny", while Miss Chassay is "tall and superstylish". Harrods heiress Camilla Fayed has rocketed up the list now she has turned 21.

From 100 last year she is now in third place - as the "new transatlantic it girl".

Also in the top 10 are Sting and Trudi Styler along with Keira Knightley and Arpad Busson. Busson, nicknamed Arki, has seen his ranking rise since splitting with model Elle Macpherson. She is just outside the golden circle at no 11.

The annual Hot 100 is a guide to everyone who is anyone from the landed gentry to the worlds of film, theatre, music, business, fashion and the arts.

For a party to go with a bang, the magazine insists, the guestlist should feature at least a handful of top choices. It recommends mixing Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice with Ralph Fiennes, Salman Rushdie, Thandie Newton and Bryan Ferry. Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz is another good catch, along with movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Sir Elton John and David Furnish.
