Costner's wedding Waterworld

Facing his bride in a kayak made for two, Hollywood actor Kevin Costner paddles his way around a private lake on his Colorado ranch.

And he isn't even doing it for a movie.

The 49-year-old star decided that the watery excursion would be the ideal romantic gesture to crown his wedding to sweetheart Christine Baumgarten.

Almost 300 guests looked on as Costner and 30-year-old Christine completed the voyage without falling in.

The couple had married in an openair-ceremony at the 165-acre ranch in Aspen. Costner arrived at the wedding - which had a Wild West theme - on a horse- drawn chuck wagon and his bride, wearing a strapless white gown, turned up in a green Chevy pick-up truck.

As soon as they finished exchanging their vows, speakers blared out the Rolling Stones hit Brown Sugar, Costner's favourite tune.

Around the wall of the reception marquee were black- and- white portraits of the happy couple fishing, riding horses and playing golf. There were still photographs from Costner's latest western film Open Range and a disco featured his collection of 70s records, many of which were hits before his bride was born.

Costner was previously married to Cindy Silva, mother of three of his four children. The 16-year marriage began to unravel when she caught him cheating with a married Hula dancer in Hawaii while filming his box office flop, Waterworld.

The subsequent divorce cost the Oscar winner a reported £60million.

He met Christine on a golf course and they started dating in 1999 before becoming engaged in June last year.
