Zatoichi

Takeshi Kitano's latest and arguably greatest film is a cleverly choreographed update of a wildly popular Japanese TV series about a blind samurai who's a dab hand with a cane sword.

Kitano, who also plays the platinum blond hero, combines graphic violence with song and dance - and CGI blood with wry comedy to create a loving parody of a Kurosawa film, complete with renegade samurai taking on the baddie hordes.
