It's advisable to watch this before seeing the recently released Vol 2 - not because the plot's hard to follow (there isn't one) but because this is the better film.

Pregnant Uma Thurman is gunned down, along with her wedding party, while rehearsing for the big day, but despite being shot at point-blank range by a professional killer, she doesn't die.

She wakes from her coma raging for revenge - on Bill, principally, but she's happy to execute his gang on the way. Film buffs will be swamped by the clever-clever references to Tarantino's numerous favourites; everybody else can just enjoy Thurman's fighting skills. With a scattering of extras.

If nobody even knows the name of your band, Eminem - as the latest single proclaims - that's probably because they're not very good, dear.

Second album D12 World does little to dispel this view, despite a general improvement in the rhyming skills of those five 'anonymous' members. It's less puerile and expletiveridden than jokey first album Devil's Night, but often rather dull, with even Slim Shady sounding lacklustre (although Get My Gun sees him back to enjoyably manic form).

Still, it'll selling by the truckload regardless of quality, so who cares?
