Where Bowie really lives

Pop legend David Bowie has finally nailed the myth that he and his supermodel wife Iman live in Chelsea. For years it was thought he owned a £6 million mansion in Gilston Road, close to former DJ Chris Evans' old home. But now the Brixton-born star reveals: "I'm in New York most of the year now. I leave only if work demands it. I've read the rumours about how I have houses elsewhere, but New York is it." What a contrast to Bowie's "lost years" during the druggy Seventies when he lived anonymously above a car-parts depot in the Turkish quarter of Berlin.

Former supermodel Christina Estrada is looking for a mansion near Hyde Park, preferably in Kensington or Knightsbridge. This follows her marriage to Saudi Arabian billionaire Walid Juffali and the recent birth of their first child, Sirina. "At the moment we're renting a place in South Kensington," says the Californian-born former fiancee of South African gaming tycoon Sol Kerzner. "Our main home is in Jeddah, but we come to London a lot because my husband's three children from his first marriage live here." The couple also have a £6 million home near Egham, Surrey.

An Elizabethan house with inglenook fireplace, leaded windows and exposed oak beams is for sale in Cheddington, a Buckinghamshire village best known as the site of the 1963 Great Train Robbery. The five-bedroom property is the former home of British movie legend Hermione Baddeley, star of such classics as Passport to Pimlico, The Belles of St Trinian's and Room at the Top. Aitchisons is asking £750,000.

The new owner of a three-bedroom pebbledash terraced house in Charlton, south-east London, will inherit a bizarre array of fixtures and fittings: whips, rubberwear, fetish clothing and a banner declaring "Never Plead Guilty". The property, sold through Peter James at £200,000, belongs to retired "madam" Lindi St Clair, better known as Miss Whiplash. "I used to have a wall full of photographs of all my favourite MP clients," she tells me. "But I took them down once I put the house on the market." Miss W will now live on her 20-acre, £500,000 Elizabethan farm in Herefordshire.
